ACDSee

ACDSee has been my image viewer and manipulator of choice since the days when the whole program fitted onto one floppy disk!

Its simple and very fast at decoding jpegs.

Several camera makers (Pentax to name but one) bundle it with their digital cameras and it’s well worth installing and making it the default program for all image file formats.

One of my friends who has been using it extensively began to have a problem with it. He was getting a "Server Busy" message and IDBDVR.EXE was still running when the program was forced to close

It turned out that the internal database of thumbnail images etc. had got corrupted. And the solution is to:

Find and delete ImageDB.dtf and ImageDB.ddf

Then when you restart the program it will rebuild those files from scratch.

It’s wise to optimise the database on an occasional basis (in Database, Maintenance, Optimize)
